THE FACTS

Florida Will Dump Trump For Leaving Workers Behind

Donald Trump has been portrayed as the “blue-collar billionaire,” but his policies are anything but. He has devoted his presidency to the wealthy, big corporations, and D.C. lobbyists. All of whom have made out like bandits while the rest of us are still just trying to get by.

The Trump administration has given corporations a $1 trillion tax cut — with almost nothing going into the pockets of workers — while at the same time, gutting workers rights and consumer protections. What little that did go to workers will likely all be wiped out by Trump’s tariffs with his trade war with China.

Trump’s attacks on workers have been described by the New York Times as a “war on worker rights.”

Floridians need a president that will fight for workers, not one who tilted the National Labor Relations Board to weaken unions. We need to dump Trump in 2020.

Terrie Rizzo, chair of the Florida Democrats Party, called out Trump’s anti-worker policies:

“Trump is going to lose in 2020 because people are sick and tired of his lying, his broken promises, his divisiveness, and his pursuit of taking care of himself and his friends at the top while leaving workers behind. Trump has repeatedly favored business interests over working Americans. It’s time working Americans say to Donald, you’re fired!

Quick Facts

New York Times Editorial Board: “Trump’s War on Worker Rights.”
“President Trump ran for office as a champion of American workers and a friend of labor unions, but his administration has systematically favored employers at the expense of workers.”

Vox: “Congress’s official think tank finds the Republican tax cuts helped corporations, not workers.”
Vox reported on analysis of Trump’s trillion dollar corporate tax giveaway did not increase GDP growth compared to pre-tax projections, or increase wage growth, in fact, wage growth didn’t keep up with GDP. Vox found that it didn’t help workers or boost economic growth instead, it found that it was “a plan that primarily put more money in corporate coffers.”

Tax Policy Center: For Many Households, Trump’s Tariffs Could Wipe Out The Benefits of the TCJA.
“President Trump’s increases in tariffs on imported goods from China and elsewhere are effectively reversing a big chunk of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. For many low- and middle-income consumers, Trump is eliminating most or all of the benefits of TCJA. How? Because the tariffs could increase the price of consumer goods by as much or more than the TCJA cut taxes.”

Trump’s Ok With His Trade War Starting A U.S. Recession.
The Washington Post reported Trump stating that “I am doing this whether it’s good or bad for your statement about, ‘Oh, will we fall into a recession for two months?’ The fact is, somebody had to take China on,” and he continued with “Whether it’s good for our country or bad for our country, short term, it had to be done,” he said, repeating that “whether it’s good or bad, short term, is irrelevant.”
